But Onwusibe denied threatening the Governor at the event.
The lawmaker was summoned by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau, FIB, Abuja for allegedly threatening Ikpeazu’s life.
The petition, sighted by Pointblanknews.com, was supported with an affidavit sworn to by the Commissioner for youths, Mr. Charles Esonu.
Head of Media and Publicity, Ginger Onwusibe Campaign organization, Ihesinachi Okite, Esq, quoted his principal as saying that on arrival at the police headquarters in Abuja, he was informed that a petition was written against him by a lawyer on behalf of Governor Ikpeazu.
“Ginger told them that he never threatened the governor and demanded to see the video. They claimed they didn’t have the video.”
Pointblanknews.com further gathered that Onwusibe has returned to the state and continued with electioneering activities.
Sources at the Government House, Umuahia, told Pointblanknews.com that Onwusibe’s candidacy is giving grey hairs to the state government and the PDP’s candidate for Isiala Ngwa North/ Isiala Ngwa South federal constituency, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere, who is the immediate past Chief of Staff to Ikpeazu.
“Dr. Agbazuere and the PDP in the state are so terrified that they could do anything to stop Ginger Onwusibe from being on the ballot because they know that the majority of the people are behind him. They are the ones who engineered the petition to the Police on the threat to life of the Governor. I can tell you that Governor Ikpeazu is too tolerant of the opposition that he doesn’t have time for this kind of thing. They only used his name. While serving as Chief of Staff , Agbazuere attracted huge bad publicity to the Governor by arresting those who disagreed with the Governor. Some of the people he arrested are now supporting Onwusibe and waiting to pay him back,” the sources said.
