Arsonists burn down Monarch’s Palace In Anambra

Dr Emeka Iluno, traditional ruler of  Ifitedunu palace in Dunukofia
Local Government Area of Anambra state was early hours of Monday set
ablaze by unknown arsonists.

The monarch confirming the incident to our reporter, blamed men of
sudden wealth in his community for the burning of his Palace and his
official jeep.

“Indeed there have been crisis in my community in the past six years.

“I thank God that there is life. My Palace was set ablaze in the early
hours of today. My jeep was also burnt,” he said.

Asked what was the possible cause of the incident Igwe Iluno, who is a
medical doctor by training said: “For the past six years my community
has been enmeshed in crisis. Some nouveau rich men in my community want
to take over the throne and leadership of the community”.

It was learnt that Igwe Iluno did not contest the throne with anyone
about 15 years ago when the throne became vacant because it was not
attractive to any one.

Anambra Police Command Spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu told our reporter that
the command had not gotten the details of the incident.
