… Recovers 300 bags of beans, 100 bags of maize
In continuation of efforts to clampdown on terrorist activities in the Lake Chad region, the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, troops of Sector 3, Monguno, Borno State, have arrested 40 terrorist logistics suppliers.
The terrorists were nabbed during an intelligence-led operation conducted on a suspected supply route on October 11.
Chief of Military Public Information Office, Lt Col Kamarudeen Adegoke who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said the operation led to the discovery of 64 bags of beans, two bags of maize, and other large quantities of food items, which were being conveyed to the terrorists’ enclaves.
Adegoke explained that follow-up operations led to the capture of another 300 bags of beans and 100 bags of corn which were subsequently destroyed by troops.
He added that in another related incident on October 11, troops of 68 Battalion on joint patrol with the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, along Mallam Fatori- Bandamari- Bari – Korarawon axis, made another breakthrough leading to the discovery and confiscation of 12 bags of fish and nine donkeys suspected to be used in ferrying supplies to the terrorists hiding in the Lake Chad Basin area.
Force Commander, MNJTF, Major General Abdul Khalifah commended the troops and urged them to maintain the momentum in order to cut off any form of supplies to the criminals, and ensure full restoration of peace and security in the Lake Chad Basin region.
