Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mr. Adeleye Oyebade, who is
currently at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies,
(NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, was promoted to the rank of a Deputy
Inspector General of Police (DIG).
Before his posting to NIPSS, Oyebade was the AIG, zone 11, Oshogbo, Osun
state. He had earlier served as Commissioner of Police in Oyo and Abia
State Commands. During his tenure as CP, Abia state, Oyebade’s
intelligence-led community policing led to a low crime rate in the state
as policemen were effectively motivated to combat crime.

zone.
The promotions were one of the highpoints of the 8th plenary meeting of
the commission. Four commissioners of Police were promoted to AIG and
three Deputy Commissioners of Police to Commissioners of Police.
The Commission also promoted 3 Deputy Commissioners of Police to
Commissioners of Police while 3 Assistant Commissioners of Police were
elevated to their next ranks; Deputy Commissioners of Police.
Eight Superintendents of Police got their ranks of Chief Superintendent
of Police.
Six hundred and seven Deputy Superintendents of Police were also
elevated to the rank of Superintendents of Police.
Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement, said
the Commission also promoted 206 Assistant Superintendents of Police to
Deputy Superintendents of Police and 5,786 Inspectors to Assistant
Superintendents of Police.
