The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approached the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi for support ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Pointblanknews.com multiple sources confirmed that the APC Presidential candidate reportedly begged the former Emir for forgiveness asking him to forgo whatever misgivings he (Sanusi) may have against him.
It was further gathered that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu used the same occasion to ask the former CBN governor, who is also head of the Tijjaniya Islamic Movement, to influence the sect in his favour ahead of the election.
According to incontrovertible sources, the former Emir did not guarantee him any positive answer until he had consulted his friend.
” Yes, Asiwaju reached out to him, asked him for forgiveness and support. Specifically, he craved his indulgence to use his influence and get the endorsement of the Tijjaniya Islamic Movement but the former Emir was clear, he had to consult his friend.
“Many believe that the friend is Kaduna State governor, Nasir Elrufai.” The source said.
Pointblanknews.com recalls that the duo met recently at in Kaduna recently at the KadInvest, the annual event organised by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency.
Sanusi lamented oil theft, Nigeria’s rising debt profile, unbalanced subsidy payment and soaring foreign exchange, amongst other monetary and economic challenges facing Nigeria at the moment.
