*As Ijaw leaders, ex-militants orders oil workers to leave N/Delta*
*Plot to unleash special forces to compromise exercise, embarrass GEJ uncovered*
By Bayo Davids
There are indications that President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to coordinate the process of compromising the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) in a bid to rig the November 11 Bayelsa State Governorship election in favour of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Timipre Sylva.
This is even as Pointblanknews.com gathered that a Presidential Special Forces have been deployed to the State ahead of the election to embarrass former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
The move, this medium gathered, is already heightening tension in the oil-rich region ahead of the election on Saturday.
The plot, according to Presidential sources, involves Shettima coming to Bayelsa State with some ‘special security” and about 50 Information Technology experts to manipulate the Biomodal Voter BVAS and the Result Viewing Portal (IREV) in favour Sylva
Also involved in the plot are some high officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigerian Military and the “special Forces” from the Presidency in Abuja.
While the “Special Forces” are expected to convey the election materials to Nembe, Brass, Ekeremor, Southern Ijaw, and other Local Government Areas with specific directive to hand it over to APC agents, the Nigerian military are expected to stage heavy shooting in the strongholds of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The alleged plot is however said to have been met with resistance from the National Security Adviser, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu who as sources say, noted that the President’s commitment to free, fair and credible election must be upheld.
But Vice President Shettima was reported to have insisted that it was the directive of President Bola Tinubu to ensure that Chief Timipre Sylva emerged victorious despite the high odds against him in Bayelsa state.
It would be recalled that President Tinubu had on Wednesday left Nigeria to attend the Saudi-Africa summit in Riyadh as part of his administration strategy to attract Direct Foreign Investment to Nigeria.
Another source claimed that the camp of Sylva is already celebrating the victory ahead of Saturday election due to the planned rigging assurances handed to them by Vice President Kashim Shettima to turn Bayelsa state into an APC state and to finally defeat and embarrass former President Goodluck Jonathan in his home state as payback for orchestrating Chief Timipre Sylva’s ouster as Governor of Bayelsa state in 2012.
In a swift response to the Vice President’s plot, some leaders, stakeholders, and thousands of ex-militants across the Ijaw Nation have condemned the alleged plot and warn of a blood-bath if the Vice President carries out the plot.
The Militant groups through its spokesperson, Chief Diepreye Agadi warned that over 25,000 ex-Militants in different groups from across the Niger Delta region are already on standby to resist all attempts by the APC to derail the Governorship elections in Bayelsa state.
“Our militant combatants stationed in the different communities to ensure a peaceful poll are ready to disarm any corrupt and compromised soldier of the Nigerian Army that fires their weapon indiscriminately as planned in the heavily populated areas with PDP supporters meant to scare away voters,” he said.
This is just as he called on local and foreign oil workers to shut down oil installations in the Niger Delta region and evacuate to avoid being caught in the mayhem and confrontation with the compromised Nigerian military personnel.
Agad stressed that “The different militant groups have set up an election monitoring situation rooms across the eight local government areas in Bayelsa state and combatant groups to counter any planned offensive to scuttle the Governorship election in Bayelsa, any killings and blood-shed witnessed in Bayelsa should be blamed on the Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief Timipre Sylva of the APC, because we are ready to defend Bayelsa state, the home of the entire Ijaw Ethnic Nationality, and we are ready to fight for the people.”
