A minor fire incident was today, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 averted at the Dangote Refinery, Lagos.
Dangote refinery, on January 12, commenced production of diesel and aviation fuel.
The 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) capacity refinery was inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023.
A statement issued by Anthony Chiejina,
Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer Dangote Industries Limited read,
“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent (wastewater) treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June.
“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to any of our staff on duty.”
Calls have intensified in recent times by concerned Nigerians for special protection to be accorded the refinery, given its capacity to address the perennial fuel crisis, when it becomes fully operational.
