A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Joseph Haruna Kigbu, has been kidnapped on his way to Jos, Plateau State.
It was learnt that daredevil bandits attacked the ex- lawmaker’s vehicle around 6 pm on Monday.
The attack occurred between Nunku in Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State, and Gwantu in Sanga LGA, Kaduna State.
A local source said a gun battle ensued between the armed bandits and a gallant police escort attached to Kigbu.
The lone police escort was shot dead during the attack, which sent motorists scampering for safety.
Villagers confirmed that the location of the incident has been a hotbed of criminal activities.
The spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command could not be reached for comments.
