The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said that the opposition parties in Nigeria especially New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is practically dead, hence plots by its leader, former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to rejoin the ruling party.
The APC boss declared that his leadership will welcome Kwankwaso back to the APC as well as any other person who wishes to join the progressives.
Speaking Tuesday in Abuja while addressing members of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) who were on a courtesy visit to APC national secretariat, Ganduje said his leadership has been receiving prominent politicians and lawmakers across the country into the APC in the recent time, adding that the so called coalition against Tinubu in 2027 will soon collapse.
He said, “The NNPP is dead. And it will soon be buried very, very soon. I’m arranging where we will put the dead body, the coffin has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave. And already they will be digging the grave very, very soon.
“Even like that, the so-called NNPP national leader, he too, he says after losing everyone, he wants to come back to us, we will welcome him, because he’s coming back home,” Ganduje said.
The APC national chairman, however, charged the visiting group to be resolute and continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration, even as he assured them of inclusion in the Party’s activities.
Responding to the claims, National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, Ladipo Johnson said that it will be belittling to dignify Ganduje’s dreams with a comment. He said that the poor governance being provided by the ruling party is as a result of the poor leadership provided by Ganduje to the party.
According to him, “Comments from the APC Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje are non inconsequential comments. It is a shame that the party at the centre will have such a person representing them.
“If the APC, in their wisdom do not realise the type of person they have as their national chairman then that is their problem and that is indicative of the poor service they are rendering to Nigerians, that is why we have what we have now.
“So we will not dignify his statement with a comment. He is still living in fools paradise”.
