The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has commended state governors elected on the platform of the PDP for their efforts in providing direction for the repositioning of the party by fixing National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and National Convention.
In a statement signed by its protem National Chairman, Barr. Obinna Nwachukwu at the end of its weekly meeting on Thursday, the group commended the governors for fixing May 27 as date for National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and setting up a committee that will kick start the process that will usher in a National Convention in August 2025.
They described the two decisions were major steps towards strengthening and returning the PDP to winning ways ahead of the 2027 general election.
The CP-PDP also lauded the governors and other leaders of the party for articulating the willingness of the PDP to work with other political parties, platforms, groups and patriotic Nigerians for a formidable front to wrestle power from the APC in the 2027 general election.
They alerted that it has commenced the process of activating its pro-bono mechanisms to massively rally Nigerians across political, professional, business, social, sectional and cultural circles across the six geo-political zones of the country to support the PDP.
The group added that it’s desks are open to receive proposals, suggestions and recommendations for the task ahead.
The CP-PDP also commenced consultations among members of the party with a view to making professional inputs that will help strengthen the party’s internal democracy and guarantee the election of the desired leadership for the PDP at the proposed National Convention.
The conference encourages qualified and competent members of the party to show interest in appropriate NWC positions so as to further guarantee the best hands to pilot the affairs of the party, preparatory to 2027 general elections.
The group called on party members to bear in mind that the leadership that will emerge at the National Convention must be such that can effectively confront the ruling APC and rally Nigerians for the party’s victory at the 2027 general elections.
The conference called on all leaders and members of the PDP to get the party back to its winning ways by setting aside all forms of parochial personal, group or sectional interests, have an open mind and be ready to work with other like-minded entities to enthrone good leadership that has eluded the nation in the last 10 years of APC misrule.
The CP-PDP restated its unalloyed commitment towards the unity, stability and growth of the PDP, the sustenance of democracy and propagation of good governance in the nation.
