In a significant legal development, the Appeal Court today, April 30, 2025, affirmed the ruling of the High Court in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, found Professor Peter Ogban for manipulating the electoral process in favour of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
This decision intensifies the ongoing controversy surrounding his 2023 re-election into the Senate.
The 2023 senatorial election in Akwa Ibom State was marred by allegations of widespread irregularities, particularly regarding the manipulation of polling unit results. These allegations sparked legal challenges, culminating in the High Court’s initial verdict of electoral fraud against Ogban.
