Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, former Senator Smart Adeyemi and other prominent political figures have been appointed to the Kogi State Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The composition of the council, contained in a document bearing the insignia of the Kogi State Government and the APC logo, names Governor Ododo as chairman, while former governors Yahaya Bello and Captain Idris Wada (retd.), alongside other prominent political stakeholders, are listed as patrons.

Former Senator Smart Adeyemi has been appointed Director-General of the council, with former Deputy Governor Joel Oyibo Salifu and Engineer Aliyu Ezzu Momoh serving as Vice Chairmen I and II, respectively.

Other listed patrons include former Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi and former Secretary to the State Government Edward Onoja, alongside the former governors.

The council also provides for zonal representation, with Ambassador Abubakar Sanusi Gamji appointed Vice Chairman for Kogi Central, Senator Attai Aidoko for Kogi East and Rt. Hon. Alfa Imam for Kogi West.

At the zonal administrative level, Rt. Hon. Momohjimoh Lawal, popularly known as Kennedy, has been named Deputy Director-General for Kogi Central, while Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu and Leke Joseph Abejide will oversee Kogi East and Kogi West, respectively.

The council also has a parliamentary mobilisation structure, with Senator Sunday Karimi appointed Director-General of Parliamentary Mobilisation and Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho as his deputy.

Ali Bello has been named Kogi State Presidential Campaign Council Coordinator, with Hilary Ojomah Egwudah as Deputy Coordinator.

Similarly, Hon. A.K. Salihu will serve as Director-General of Mobilisation, assisted by Professor Usman Salisu Ogbo and Rt. Hon. Prince Matthew Kolawole as deputies.

The membership cuts across the state’s political landscape, bringing together serving and former lawmakers, party chieftains and other stakeholders.

The council is expected to coordinate grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and other campaign activities across the state in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The appointments come as the APC and other political parties intensify efforts to strengthen their political structures and consolidate support ahead of the next general elections.
