President Goodluck Jonathan has said those accusing him of not fighting
corruption are indeed the corrupt ones in the society.
General Mohammadu Buhari, former Governor Ahmed Bola Tinubu and lately,
former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, all of the All Progressive Congress,
APC have accused the President of corruption.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal had also said
the body language of the President has been encouraging corruption.
But President Jonathan in what could be seen as a direct response to the
accusers said those seeking credibility, go on air to accuse the
Government of corruption.
“Anybody who wants to claim an element of credibility will go to the
television and accuse government of corruption, that the President’s body
language shows that he is not fighting corruption or that he is not ready
to fight corruption.
“Sometimes, even the very corrupt people are those making these statements
because if you attack government, you are insulated, you become an angel.
“If you want to be an angel, just attack the government, whatever you have
done is covered.”
President Jonathan spoke after swearing in the chairman and members of the
National Population Commission; a member of the Independent Corrupt
Practices and other Related Offences Commission and two special advisers
at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
