Aliyu Gusau, has not resigned– Presidency

Nigeria’s Defence minister, Aliyu Gusau, who was sworn in  last week, has not resigned , the government said Wednesday, in response  to a report by an online medium ( Not pointblanknews.com), that  the retired army general has resigned.

President Goodluck Jonathan’s spokesman, Reuben Abati,   said reports that  Gusau had left office after an altercation between him and chief of Defence staff, AVM Alex Badeh,  were “false”.

Gusau did not attend Wednesday’s weekly cabinet meeting a development cited as the most ostensible indication he has quit the cabinet.

“It is not true that he has resigned,” Abati said in Abuja

When asked why  Gusau was not at today’s meeting of the Federal Executive Council, the presidential spokesperson said, “He has flu.”
