Orji Warns Council Chairmen Over Infrastructure

by Our Reporter

Abia State governor, Chief Theodore Orji has berated the Transition Committee chairmen of Aba South and Aba North local governments of the state, Chukwuemeka Nwaogu and Goodluck Amaefula, respectively, for not doing enough to improve the state of infrastructure in the Aba.

Orji made the remark at a meeting with some ministries, treasurers of the 17 councils, heads of the council town planning authorities and officials of National Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE).

The governor accused them of not doing much. “You people have not done one kilometre of road in Aba city since you were appointed, your work is to do the local roads and de-silt drainages which you have not been doing,” Orji remarked.

He directed them to move into Aba, the commercial capital of the state, and tap into the various industries and other revenue generating ventures in the city, stressing that they should reduce their over dependence on Ariaria International market alone for revenue.

Recall that the Gov. Orji had, since the week came hard on some officials of his government for allegedly diverting state revenue into their pockets and not doing enough to make life better for the people. He ordered them to change or be sacked.
