Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has mourned the departure from earth of the Emir of Kano, HRM Ado Bayero and former Minister of Information, Prof. (Mrs.) Dora Akunyuli.
The deputy speaker described the death of both individuals as the loss of committed patriots, nationalists, and firm crusaders for peace, unity and an egalitarian society where justice and fairness reigns. Their passage to the great beyond is “deeply painful,” he said.
Ihedioha said: “The late Emir of Kano was a renowned monarch of peace who stood for the promotion of peaceful co-existence, national unity and fairness among all people. He had a benevolent spirit that radiated a warm hospitality which made all and sundry feel comfortable in the ancient city of Kano.
“Our dear Prof. Dora was an epitome of courage, doggedness and determination to succeed above all odds. She served Nigeria till her last breathe as she struggled to give her all to a country she had virtually sacrificed her life for several times before her death. Nigeria will miss them both sorely.”
He prayed God to grant the families of the departed patriots the fortitude to bear the loss while commiserating with the Government and people of Kano State who will surely miss the towering father-figure the late Bayero provided for them.
The deputy speaker urged all Nigerians to emulate the virtues of the departed patriots and be inspired by the kind of lives they lived which impacted positively on the nation in more ways than one.
