Ekiti Govt. Warns Contractors Handling Road Projects

The Ekiti Government on Tuesday said contractors engaged for  the 5km road project per local government  risk revocation  of  their contracts if they failed to meet  the administration’s  expectations.

Chief  Dayo Fadipe, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, gave the warning  in Ikole-Ekiti  during  an unscheduled visit to three  local government areas.

He also said firms engaged in shoddy job execution  would be blacklisted.

Fadipe, who visited Ikole, Oye and Ekiti East Local Government Areas, however,  commended the three  contractors there for  the job done.

The commissioner urged the contractors to hasten work on the projects, saying they must be completed not later than September.

He expressed concern at the slow pace of work on some roads under construction in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, saying government would not hesitate to revoke any  contract.

The caretaker chairman of the local government, retired Major Tajudeen Awe, also expressed displeasure at the slow pace of work and  urged the contractor  to brace up.

Mr Joseph Kola Ogundare, a community leader in Isan- Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area, commended the state government for embarking on the 5km road project. (NAN)
