Special Adviser to the Abia State governor on Housing, Engr. Nwabueze Onwuneme says the first 50 housing units at the Ochendo Liberation Estate for Civil Servants at Avodim Ubakala in Umuahia local council, will be ready for commissioning within the next few months.
Onwuneme dropped this hint in a chat with newsmen at Government House, Umuahia. He stated that the Estate is being built under private public partnership by the Aso Investment Development Company.
The governor’s aide further stated that the state government takes the issue of housing as a priority adding that under the partnership, Aso Investment company willgive mortgages to beneficiaries which would be spread out at an interest rate of 6%.
According to him, a three bedroom bungalow will go for N5million and called on the civil servants to support the governor.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue has debunked reports that work has stopped at the various project sites across the state, describing it false and unfounded.
He explained that work was going on at the various housing estates, stressing that work on road projects were momentarily stopped due to the rains and will recommence as soon as the rains subside.
