Appointment Of Hajia Amina Bala Zakari As INEC Chairman Is Meritorious, Well-Deserved And Gender Friendly

Network of Women Advocacy (NWA), a Non- government Organization which
galvanizes public support for positive government policies and programmes
especially empowerment of women recalls President Muhammadu Buhari’s pre –
2015 presidential election promise that his government will have zero
tolerance for discrimination against women.
In fulfillment of his promise, PMB has started the empowerment of women
through the appointment of qualified women into sensitive government
positions.
Recently, PMB appointed Hajia Amina Zakari as the Acting Chairman of INEC
and Network of Women Advocacy commends the appointment through the
following statements:
Network of Women Advocacy commends President Muhammadu Buhari for
appointing Hajia Amina Zakari as INEC Acting Chairman which shows that his
administration is gender friendly and sensitive and further demonstrates
his fulfillment of his electoral promises of empowering Nigerian women.
The appointment of Hajia Amina Zakari as INEC Acting Chairman is
meritorious and well-deserved because of her rich experience in electoral
matters, sound academic background, profound public administrative skills,
personal honour, integrity and strong character etc.
NWA is confident of the capacities and capabilities of the new appointment
in repositioning INEC to more enviable heights and conducting free, fair,
credible and transparent elections beyond the expectations and
imaginations of Nigerians and the international community.
NWA notes with disgust, consternation and disappointment  the frivolous
and baseless criticisms against this noble and suiting appointment from
the quarters and enclaves of misogamists, conservative and enemies of this
administration who hate women mobility, emancipation and empowerment.
We therefore urge all Nigerians and the members of International Community
to ignore the rantings of few unprogressive elements against her
appointment; rally round her to move our electoral system forward and at
the same time urge her to remain focused, steadfast, committed, diligent
in her new assignment without being distracted by fifth columnists and
agent provocateurs, busy body movement who are opposed to our collective
progress as a Nation.
