Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has promised Abians both at home and
those in diaspora who would be visiting home for the yuletide a crime-free
celebrations.
This is as the governor revealed that the state is going to launch a new
security initiative whereby a brand new police patrol vehicle with police
personnel would be stationed at each junction.
Ikpeazu gave this assurance yesterday while inspecting ongoing road
projects in Aba, the commercial-hub of the state.
According to him, the essence of the inspection was to ascertain the
stages of the ongoing road projects and identify the roads that require
urgent attention which could be addressed during the dry season window.
The governor also directed that immediate interventions should be carried
on St. Michael’s, Hospital, and Jubilee roads.
Ikpeazu said that Abia state is pioneering the cement technology in road
construction this side of the country, adding that the wisdom behind this
technology is to ensure that the roads constructed would last up to 20
years.
He said that cement technology is the minimum standard for roads
construction in the state.
