The Godfrey Okoye (Catholic) University, Ugwuomu-Nike, Enugu, will on
Saturday, December 5, 2015 confer on Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri
Tambuwal, the Degree of Doctor of Administration (Honoris Causa).
A statement issued by Tambuwal’s spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, said the
official investiture will take place as part of the university’s 3rd
convocation ceremony.
It said the honour was bestowed on the Governor for his role in the
development of the legislature while he served as theSpeaker of the 7th
Session of Nigeria’s House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015.
Commenting on the investiture, Tambuwal said his family, the people and
government of Sokoto State felt honoured by the recognition, and it will
spur him to do more especially for the development of education in the
country.
While praising the management of the university for maintaining a noble
disposition since the university came into existence in 2009, Tambuwal
said as a Christian-based institution of higher learning, considering him
for such honour will bolster religious harmony and freedom in the country.
