A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has retrained the Independent
National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Senate President, the Speaker of
the House of Representatives and the Clerk of the National Assembly from
withdrawing the certificate of returns of Senator Andy Uba and Sen. Stella
Oduah
The order of injunction also retrained the electoral body and the National
Assembly from withdrawing the Certificate of Returns of members of the
House of Representatives from Anambra state and/or issuing Certificates of
Return to any persons other than the plaintiffs as well as restraining
them from swearing in any persons as winners of the 2015 general election
into the National Assemly.
Nine National Assembly members from Anambra State, including Senators Andy
Uba and Stella Oduah, had written the Independent National Electoral
Commission, disputing reports that they were sacked by the Supreme Court
on Friday.
Apart from Messrs. Uba (Anambra South) and Oduah lAnambra North) who are
Senators, the other lawmakers from Anambra are Lynda Ikpeazu, Anayo Nnebe,
Tony Nwoye, Chris Azubogu, Chukwuka Onyema, Obinna Chidoka and Eucharia
Azodo who are members of the House of Representatives.
