All may not be well in the upper house as hundreds of pro Senator Kabir Marafa protesters stormed the National Assembly calling for the resignation of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The protesters acting under the aegis of open Society Coalition said he should resign in order to face his trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal,CCT.
It could be recalled that the ethics committee of the senate began sitting Monday to probe Marafa over an interview he granted a national daily.
The senate viewed the interview as damaging to the reputation of the upper house
The embattled senator from Zamfara snubbed the committee only for his supporters to turn the heat on Saraki today
Protesters who besieged NASS carried placards bearing various inscriptions .
Some of the inscriptions seen with the protesters at the entrance of NASS read: “Suspend Saraki not Marafa, “stop suspending nembers leave the Senate and face CCT”, “Democracy survives inclusive not in suspending people of different opinion”, ” NASS centre of Democracy not Facist
Marafa had accused Saraki of using the 2016 budget to blackmail President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to him, all the drama that trailed the document after it was presented, such as missing budget, two versions, were allegedly masterminded by Saraki.
