The Gombe State Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission   has arrested three officials of a wonder bank operating in
the name of Graceland Real Option Limited in Gombe.

The EFCC also recovered about one million naira cash  from the raid of
their office.

This was disclosed by the anti-graft agency in a statement.

“Sequel to verbal complaint and information supplied by a public-spirited
person, an investigation was carried out at the off ice of the company,
which was situated at 3, Kembu Plaza, Alheri Junction. They lured their
customers through a promise of soft loan of 12 per cent interest rate and
without collateral.

“They fixed repayment period over 35 weeks with option of weekly and
monthly settlement.   However, prospects were required to purchase loan
form at two thousand naira (N2000.00) only before they could benefit from
the loan scheme.

“These conditions, although were attractive to many and drew a large
patronage from petty traders and other small business owners, aroused the
suspicion of the commission’s informant, who acted promptly by contacting
the commission. The commission acted swiftly and arrested the suspects in
their offices,” the statement said.

The suspects, who are working on meeting their bail conditions, are
Messrs. James Adetunji, accountant, Bilus Mayaki, supervisor and Miss
Blessing Taddawus, secretary. However, the Commission operatives could not
arrest the Area Manager one Mr. Christopher and another staff, Mr. Frank
Elvis.
