The chairmanship hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, High Chief
Raymond Dokpesi, has vowed to rebuild and reposition the party if elected
at the party’s National Convention, billed for August 17, 2016, in Port
Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Dokpesi gave the assurance when he took his campaign to Akwa Ibom state.
He said his records as a pioneer of successful projects in the past
rightly positions him as the right man to lead the rebuilding process of
the PDP.
Dokpesis said: “PDP remains the party that was founded for all Nigerians.
We started well but we missed it at a point. We abandoned zoning principle
and was far from the electorates; we paid for it in 2015.
“It is proper to right the wrongs and start from the foundation to restore
the lost glory of the party. I have come to solicit for your prayer,
support and endorsement. My record puts me in the right perspective to
rebuild this party. I am a pioneer at building and rebuilding. My record
at African Ocean line; we started private radio broadcast with Raypower
and you are all witness to what we have achieved with AIT.”
He said the transformation of Akwa Ibom state by successive governments in
the state is a testament of what PDP is known for, describing the state as
a reference point of good governance in Nigeria.
The PDP state chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, who described him as an
illustrious son of Nigeria, especially the South South assured him of
their support and prayer, noting that the delegates will decide the
outcome of the convention.
“This is the beauty of the new PDP. The people will decide. You have
offered yourself to rebuild the party, we have heard you and the delegates
will do the right thing at the convention,” he said.
