Zamfara Killing Not Buhari’s Business-Presidency

by Our Reporter

The Presidency has said the recent killings of Christians in Zamfara State

is not the business of President Mohammadu Buhari.

Mr. Femi Adesina, Presidential Spokesman told a team of Broadcast
Journalists that though the killings are an act of criminality, Nigeria
runs a Federalism and so the President cannot be held responsible for such
crimes.

Asked what the President intends to do to curb the incessant killings of
Christians in the Northern part of Nigeria, Adesina said: “The Zamfara
Governor has said those killed are not only Christians, they are Muslims
too.”

According to him, “it happened in a state and we run a federalism. That
state has the primary responsibility of bringing the perpetrators to
book.”

The Presidency’s new position is a departure from tweets from the official
Twitter handle of President Buhari which condemned the kilings, promising
to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Recall that no fewer than eight persons were killed recently in
Talata-Mafara community in Zamfara State after violence erupted over
alleged blasphemy against Islam by a student of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic,
Talata-Mafara.

The student was alleged to have made a blasphemous statement against
Islam and Prophet Muhammad and was consequently attacked by a mob.
The boy was said to have been beaten to pulp by the mob. The man, whose
name was simply given as Tajudeen, took him in his car and rushed him to a
hospital.

A witness said the mob, angered by Tajudeen’s act, moved to his house, set
it on fire and killed eight persons.
