A Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has denied claims that he had used his facebook account to send disparaging and insulting messages to some people of northern stock, describing them as dirty Boko Haram animals, and that they came from a tribal group of ‘murderous parasites’
Fani-Kayode who spoke with Pointblanknews.com in Abuja said some hackers went into his account, then used his account to send damaging messages like ‘ Nigeria despise you people’, ‘ you should all move to Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan’
According to him “A few days ago someone, who must have secretly cracked my new password or who got it from one of my stafff, had been going into my fb account quietly and undetected, reading all my inbox messages, responding to a few people and pretending to be me.”
The former minister who reiterated his love for all Nigerians , and that he had never held any animosity against northerners, maintained that the hackers’ motive was to paint him in bad light, and malign his character.
According to him “ Tribalism is not in my DNA. I most certainly am not a tribalist, I do not hate northerners or any other ethnic group in Nigeria and I could not possibly have said such things. This is just a cheap and shameful attempt to smear my name and that of my family but anyone that knows the history of this country, my family’s political relationship with the north since 1960 and my own relationship with the north in the last 20 years that I have been in politics will tell you that it is impossible for me to have such sentiments a about northerners or any other Nigerians.”
Fani-Kayode said further that “ One thing that I can never be accused of is being a coward or hiding my views and I dont mind bearing or speaking my mind in a very frank manner on any issue. I do not shy away from speaking the truth and once I say something or take a position on an issue I will stand by it and defend it. What I will not do is allow some jobless and ruthless people to ascribe to me things that I never said so that 5 years from now or even 20 years from now they can use it against me. I never said or wrote any of that rubbish to anyone and neither could I have possibly done so. It is a 419 communication by a syndicate of 419 hackers and extortionists who have been on my back for the last one month.”
Fani-Kayode who disclosed that such act had been perpetrated by hackers said “The same thing happened to me about two years ago for the first time and I had to take a full page out in 4 Nigerian newspapers out to refute it then. At that time it was my leader President Olusegu Obasanjo that they said that I accused of bringing young girls into the villa when we were in power and they said that I wrote it in an fb conversation. And now they say that I have attacked the north in a most disgraceful and insulting way. There is no way I could have done that. I would never use that type of language against anyone, not even my worse enemies. “
