Chairman of the National Contact Committee of Action Democratic Party
(ADP), Senator Roland Owie has described the death of Dr Alex Ekwueme as
the passage of a sage.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Owie said that the passage of Ekwueme had
closed a chapter in Nigeria’s political history.
According to him, “Throughout the period he was in Politics, Dr. Ekwueme
remained a moderating factor in our volatile Polity.
“He was a gentleman, Scholar, businessman and humanist.
“By his death, Nigeria stands diminished and saddened.
” As a Vice President in 1979-83, when I was a UPN Legislator in the House
of Representatives, Ekweme treated us with love and never discriminated
against opposition legislators in budgetary matters.”
Owie said that Ekwueme stood for a United Nigeria and remained active
until he drew his last breath.
“The Nation will forever miss this great Nigerian,” he stated and prayed
God to grant his soul a place in Heaven.
