In what appears to be a pattern, the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship election in Kano
inconclusive.

The Commission had declared Adamawa, Bauchi, Sokoto, Plateau, Benue
inconclusive while suspending election issues in Rivers and Imo. They are
all states the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, appears to be leading the
All Progressive Congress, APC.
Professor Bello Shehu, the INEC Returning officer declared the election
inconclusive, saying that the margin of lead between the PDP and the APC
was not enough to declare the opposition as the winner.
Mr Shehu said while the PDP candidate polled 1,014,474 votes, Mr Ganduje
of the APC scored 987,819 votes leaving a difference of 26,655 votes.
He also said the total number of votes cancelled across 22 local
government areas including Gama ward of Nasarawa local government is
141,694 votes.
