President  Yoweri Museveniis is   the winner of the 2021 Ugandan presidential election. It is his sixth term.

Museveni has ruled Uganda without pause since seizing control in 1986, when he helped to end years of tyranny under Idi Amin and Milton Obote. He is one of Africa’s longest serving leaders.

Once hailed for his commitment to good governance, the former rebel leader has crushed any opposition and tweaked the constitution to allow himself to run again and again.

Museveni of the National Resistance Movement, in the controversial election which started on Thursday and ended on Saturday, after two days of vote counts, garnered over 5 million (58.64%) of the 9.9 million valid votes cast to sink other nine contenders.

His closest rival, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) of National Unity Party, had 34.83% of the total votes cast 34,684 PUs across the country.
