Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has said that the new
Government House located at Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, will be completed
before he leaves office in 2023.
The Governor, who stated this when he visited the new government house
complex accompanied by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly,
Hon. Chinedum Orji, to ascertain the progress of work done.
Ikpeazu expressed satisfaction with the contractor of the project back
on site, adding that the visit was to ensure that the project was going
on in line with specifications.
He said; “It is important that the Speaker is part of the inspection to
see what the Executive is doing with the funds appropriated by the
Legislature for the project. I have come to see the quality of work and
to ensure they are working in line with specifications “, he stated.
Presently, the contractor is doing electrical, plumbing and tilling
works as plastering had been completed.”
He encouraged the contractor to expedite work to achieve the plan of
completing the project in good time.
Asked to give a specific timeframe for the completion of the project,
Ikpeazu said;”I will move into this place and use it before I leave
office as Governor in 2023.”
Recall that the construction of the new government house complex
commenced during the administration of former governor, Senator Theodore
Orji.
