According to the Minister of Justice, the Federal Government between 2001 and 2019, approved over six trillion naira (N6trn) for the NDDC.
Pointblanknews.com inside sources corroborated that between 2001 and 2019, the Federal Government made budgetary estimates of 3, 375, 735,776,794.93 naira for NDDC.
However, “Out of this amount, the NDDC received 2,420,948,894,191.00, which is about 72 percent of the total budgetary estimates for the period in question.”, a departure from the presentation of the Justice Minister.
“Furthermore, “If total income is 2.4trillion and total budgetary allocations is 3.37trillion, how can anyone in their right senses add both estimates and actuals to arrive at total releases. Clearly someone is pursuing an agenda to put falsehood in the public space.” The source wondered.
When asked to comment on the Justice Minister’s speech, the source said “My reservation over the accuracy of the Attorney-General’s figures must not be construed as an endorsement of the clear malfeasance and mismanagement at the NDDC.
“I believe that we have gone beyond the stage of focusing only on the reasons that prompted the forensic audit. Those who truly mean well for the Niger Delta and NDDC should now be engaged in conversations around stemming the slide and turning things around for the good of all.”
