However, scores of Nigerians have moved en masse to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, and condemned Osinbajo’s speech.
Some of the Twitter users, who expressed their grievances under a hashtag, #OsinbajoDeclares, alleged that the Vice President’s promise to complete the project started by President Buhari would throw the country into another “disaster”.
Below are some of the reactions of Nigerians:
“A Presidential aspirant calling President Buhari a true Nigerian patriot and a man of integrity is enough red flag for him to lose.”
“Do you want Nigeria to continue with Buhari’s disaster?
“The choice is yours.”
“I woke up to #OsinbajoDeclares saying he would complete what @MBuhari started.
“Ahhh!! Baba ọkọ mi, daakun maabinu. They don’t understand the stuff you’re made of, that’s why they keep underestimating you. Pls, leave us at the altar with our father. We’ve had it enough.”
“Osinbajo said he has been to all 774 LGAs. A barefaced lie.
“He said that President Buhari is a true patriot. Buhari is an ethnic champion.
“He wants to complete what Buhari started. To completely finish Nigeria. A performative declaration of lies & deceit.”
“Osinbajo said in his presidential declaration this morning that he is contesting to first of all complete what they have started in the last 7years with President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration!!!! Man that actually sounds like A Threat to Me!!!”
“You can’t be a presidential candidate and vow to continue from where President Buhari stopped and you expect a sane person like me to take you serious. Never!!!”
“Nigga literally wants to fulfill Buhari’s campaign promises. It’s ludicrous!”
“PYO too fuck up with his speech while declaring to run for president. As in you want to complete what Buhari has started.”
“Osinbajo said he has been to all the Local Govts in Nigeria!! This is a HUGE LIE!
“He also called Buhari MR INTEGRITY another lie that was packaged to Nigerians in 2015!!
“Pastor Osinbajo started his declaration with lies, he will rule with even more lies!!”
“I think Osinbajo needs to be more specific on what he wants to continue from Buhari’s legacy. “The blind eyes on corruption, insecurity, inflation, high rate of unemployment or roaming from Nigeria to UK.”
