Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State arrived in Port Harcourt, the state capital for the meeting which many believe was to woo Wike into the APC. Also in attendance was former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose.
While this has not been confirmed, many believe the Governor is unlikely to ditch the PDP for which he has worked tirelessly.
The details of the closed-door meeting is not yet known but it may not be unconnected with the 2023 presidential election and his possible support for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Wike is said to be aggrieved over the refusal of Atiku Abubakar to pick him as his vice presidential running mate. There are also reports that Wike is aggrieved with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
PDP has already commenced the process of reconciliation between the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the governor.
