The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has applauded President Goodluck Jonathan and the Minister of Works, Arc. Mike Onolememen for what they described as the rapid infrastructural development in the road sector.
The party said it is particularly impressed by the projects executed by the President Jonathan-led PDP administration including the dualization, rehabilitation and maintenance of major trunk roads across the country in addition to the imminent award of the Second Niger Bridge project.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Sunday said the leadership of the party is proud of the achievements of the Jonathan-led PDP administration stating that the President is steadily on the track in ensuring sustainable growth in all sectors of the economy.
Applauding the President and the minister for the attention being given to the road sector which has considerably eased transportation and boosted economic activities in the country, the party said it is impressed by the rapid intervention during the last yuletide season as well as the zero pot hole policy of the administration.
The party said it is “highly impressed by the repair of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, the dualization of major trunk roads, the execution of hundreds of other major roads projects spread across the country as well as the recent flag-off of the dualization of the Lokoja-Benin-Auchi road, all in the last nine months.”
Some major projects listed by the party include the dualization of Kano-Maiduguri Road linking Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno states, the dualization of Onitsha-Owerri Road and Onitsha Eastern Bypass, rehabilitation of Benin-Ore-Shagamu Highway and the on-going work on Abuja-Abaji-Lokoja Road Other projects include the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Ijebu-Ajegunle-Araromi-Ife-Sekona Road in Ogun state, rehabilitation of the Kano-Daura-Mai Adua Road in Katsina state, reconstruction of Gombe-Numan-Yola Road in Adamamawa state, construction of the Langtag-Lanin-Tunkus Road in Plateau state and the construction of Vom-Manchok Road in Kaduna state.
The party also noted the dualization of Suleja-Minna Road in Niger state, rehabilitation of Aba- Owerri Road, rehabilitation of Ayangba-Ajaokuta Road in kogi state, completion and opening of the Kano-Western bye-pass in Kano state and the acceleration of work on the dualization of Kano-Maiduguri Road as well as Onitsha-Enugu and Ibadan-Ilorin roads among others in the last nine months.
The PDP said “with the completed and on-going projects, the President has shown that his administration is indeed committed to his resolve to deliver on his promise to revolutionize the road sector in line with his Transformation Agenda”.
The party therefore called on Nigerians to continue to show support to the Jonathan-led PDP administration which it said is working relentlessly in ensuring that it delivered on its promises to improve the quality of life in the country.
