Former Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Bashir Garba Lado, who lost the bid to secure All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket ahead of the 2023 elections has reportedly demanded the refund of the N100, 000.00 he gave to each delegate before the conduct of the primary election.
Sources indicated that many of the delegates refused to receive the money to vote for him at the primary conducted on Saturday.
It was learnt that some of the few delegates that collected have returned or are in the process of returning the money for fear of being exposed.
Lado, who was at the Senate between 2015 and 2019, was defeated by Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura who polled 753 votes against 77 scored by the former Senator.
It was also gathered that most of the delegates turned down Lado’s offer, alleging that he was Abuja politician, who got disconnected with the people after elections
One of the delegates from Kano Municipal Council, Habibu Isa Zango, who turned down the offer, said they did not want a repeat of what happened after his election in 2015, when the former Senator became unaccessible.
The the former Senator was also appointed as Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.
