President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, are expected to join eminent lawyers, judges, politicians and other prominent members of the Nigerian Law School Class of 1991 at the class’s 35th anniversary reunion in Uyo.
The four-day event is scheduled for December 10 to 13, 2026, at Watbridge Hotels and Suites, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Class Leader and Chairman of the Nigerian Law School Class of 1991 Alumni Association, Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, SAN, Akpabio and Eno are expected to attend as special guests.
Okutepa said the reunion would provide members with an opportunity to reconnect, reflect on their journey and celebrate their achievements over the past 35 years.
He said, “The anniversary and reunion will provide an opportunity for members to reconnect, relive fond memories, network and celebrate their remarkable journey over the past 35 years.”
The statement described the 1991 class as an outstanding set that has produced distinguished lawyers, politicians, judges and statesmen who have contributed to Nigeria’s development.
“The class boasts several notable personalities who have attained prominent positions in the legal profession, public service and other sectors,” Okutepa said.
Among the prominent members listed are former Vice President Alex Ekwueme, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, former Plateau State Governor, Senator Simon Lalong, and Senator representing Akwa Ibom South, Ekong Sampson.
The class also includes Senior Advocates of Nigeria, academics, practising lawyers, jurists, political figures and business leaders.
Former Supreme Court Justice Amina Augie is expected to deliver the keynote address, while a team of distinguished discussants will participate in the lecture session.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Justice Winnifred Effiong, expressed appreciation to members of the class for choosing Uyo as the destination for the anniversary.
The statement said the choice of Uyo was “particularly fitting” because the city had earned a reputation as “a serene, hospitable and vibrant destination.”
It added that the city’s peaceful ambience, beautiful environment, growing hospitality industry and rich cultural heritage made it suitable for an occasion combining intellectual engagement, networking, relaxation and celebration.
The lecture session will hold at the Nelson Mandela Hall of Watbridge Hotels and Suites, while guests will have an opportunity to unwind at the hotel’s Super Poolside after the intellectual sessions.
