BAYELSA DECLARES THREE-DAY MOURNING FOR LATE INC PRESIDENT, SEKIBO

Bayelsa State government has declared three days of mourning in honour of the late President, Ijaw National Congress, (INC), Senator Tari Sekibo,

Also in honour of the late Sekibo, the state government has moved a “Thank You Tour” of all the eight Local Government Areas of the state earlier scheduled for Wednesday, 20th November, 2013 to Monday, 25 November 2013.

Governor Seriake Dickson described Sekibo’s death as “sudden” and a “loss to the Ijaw nation and Nigeria.”

Governor Dickson recalled Sekibo’s wealth of experience and contribution to the development of Ijaw nation, saying same shall remain indelible.

The Governor, according to a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Deacon Markson Fefegha, directed that State flags in public buildings and places across the State be flown at half mast for three days, beginning from Tuesday, 19th of November 2013.

Burial arrangements for the Late INC leader who died on Monday, 18th of November 2013 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the statement added, will be announced at a later date by the family and the Okrika Council of chiefs.

Bayelsa State government in consultation with the INC, family and Okrika council of chiefs, will undertake the burial arrangements, Governor Dickson promised.

Late Sekibo will be remembered for his truthfulness, doggedness, leadership style and selfless service to the development of the Ijaw nation and Nigeria as a whole, the statement concluded.
