Passengers booked on an Air Peace flight from Lagos were thrown into confusion and frustration on Tuesday after a protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) disrupted flight operations at the airport.
The affected passengers were scheduled to depart Lagos on the 6:30 a.m. Air Peace flight, but the aircraft was unable to take off as scheduled, leaving travellers stranded at the airport.
The disruption caught many passengers off guard, with some expressing frustration over the uncertainty surrounding the resumption of their journey.
One passenger, who was travelling out of Lagos for an important engagement, said the disruption had put the day’s plans at risk.
“I have a programme I am supposed to attend, and I do not even know when we will leave here. We came early enough for the flight, but now we are just waiting,” the passenger told Pointblanknews.com.
Another passenger said the situation was particularly frustrating because travellers had made arrangements based on the scheduled departure time.
“We planned everything around the 6:30 a.m. flight. Now nobody can tell us when we are leaving or what we should do next,” the passenger said.
The disruption left several affected travellers waiting for updates as the NLC protest impacted flight operations at the Lagos airport.
An NLC source told Pointblanknews.com that the protest was aimed at compelling Air Peace to allow its employees to join the trade union.
Attempts to reach Air Peace through its customer care line for an official response were unsuccessful, as calls to the line were not going through at the time of filing this report.
