Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he will appear before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on February 18, following an invitation delivered to him a day after what he described as an attempted arrest at the Abuja Airport.
Disclosing the development in a post on X on Friday, El-Rufai alleged that the commission’s letter was served shortly after what he termed a “futile attempt” to abduct him, linking the invitation to the airport incident.
“Yesterday, after the futile attempt to abduct me, the ICPC delivered a letter to invite me to their office,” he wrote, adding that his lawyer had formally responded to confirm his willingness to honour the invitation on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
The ICPC’s move comes days after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) also invited the former governor, signalling intensifying legal scrutiny from Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies.
Sources said operatives of the ICPC attempted to effect his arrest at the Abuja Airport on Thursday, but the effort was reportedly thwarted by his associates who insisted on seeing proper documentation.
As of press time, the ICPC had yet to publicly clarify the specific allegations prompting the invitation, with further developments expected in the coming days as the matter unfolds.
