President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday congratulated Archbishop Adewale Martins on his formal installation as the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos.
Adewale was installed the fourth Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos on Saturday, following his appointment to the position by Pope Benedict XVI.
A statement by Dr Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in Abuja, said that Jonathan wished Martins continued divine guidance and blessing as he assumed the position.
Noting that the position was held for almost four decades by Cardinal Anthony Okogie, Jonathan prayed that God would grant Martins the good health, courage and wisdom required to lead the larger laity and clergy in the archdiocese.
The President gave the assurance that the Federal Government would work with Martins and other religious leaders in efforts to promote religious tolerance, interfaith harmony and peace in all parts of the country. (NAN)
