“We Must Remove Godfatherism, Impositions”, Dokpesi Tells PDP

by Our Reporter

Businessman and Politician, Raymond Dokpesi has advised members of his

political party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) to return power to the
people in line with the party’s slogan.

Dokpesi said it is important to return power to the people so they can
make the real “change” they want.

Dokpesi made the statement during his campaign rally in Calabar, the
capital of Cross Rivers State.

Dokpesi is vying for the position of National Chairman of the party and is
currently going round the country soliciting support from party leaders
and delegates.

The media magnate has been a member of PDP since the party’s inception in
1998; operating most of the time from the backdoor; yet making substantial
contributions and sacrifices , which according to Dokpesi have “come in
form of money, sweat and even blood.”

As Dokpesi eyes PDP’s top job, he wants his party to return to the values
of its founding fathers by allowing the people to be the ultimate judge of
who provides them leadership.

“We cannot deny there is imposition in PDP. We cannot deny Godfatherism in
PDP and we cannot deny acts of imposition which have led to internal
wranglings in our party”, he said Dokpesi.

Dokpesi said the disaffection in the party had grown worse with members
deserting the party in droves in the wake of its defeat at the polls in
2015.

Dokpesi said he couldn’t sit back and watch things turn from bad to worse;
and so he decided to contest for the position of National Chairman when
the opportunity presented itself.

He said PDP would need to deal with its image problem if it hopes to wrest
power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC ).

Dokpesi is counting on his wealth of experience in the corporate community
to takeover the chairmanship position in PDP.

He ran the first shipping company in Nigeria; African Ocean Line, a
company he founded almost out of nothing.

Dokpesi also pioneered the first privately owned Radio and Television
Stations in Nigeria.

“All my life I have been a builder.
I know what it takes to build and rebuild and I thought I have what it
takes to to re-invent the party. I can rebuild the party from scratch if
you give me the opportunity.
I seek your endorsement; your approval to run.
Do I have your permission”? He asked his audience.

The response was a resounding approval from party members who were pleased
with Dokpesi’s line of thoughts and programme for the party.

For many, High Chief Dokpesi is the real deal.

Dokpesi then assured everyone that he’ll never to let them down.
