Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested Lekan Jimoh, better known as Kanmo-Kanmo, ending a 12-year manhunt tied to the brutal killing of three NDLEA officers during an attempted arrest in June 2014.
According to reports on the agency’s website, Jimoh was tracked down on Friday, 16 January 2026, in Owode town, Ogun State, after intelligence-led operations by NDLEA tactical teams. A search of his hideout uncovered 69 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis.
The NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said Jimoh had been on the agency’s wanted list since 15 June 2014, after allegedly mobilising armed thugs to attack officers who tried to arrest him, resulting in the cold-blooded murder of three NDLEA personnel, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure.
Babafemi described the arrest as a significant breakthrough and a testament to NDLEA’s determination that “no fugitive, regardless of how long they evade justice, remains beyond the reach of the law.”
The agency also noted that Jimoh had previously slipped away from a raid on his Ado-Odo hideout in 2023, when operatives seized nearly 1,922 kilograms of skunk from a warehouse linked to his property that has since been forfeited to the Federal Government.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd) said the arrest “closes a painful chapter” and sends a clear message: “You may run, and you may hide for a season, but the long arm of the law will eventually find you.”
Jimoh’s capture comes amid intensified nationwide operations targeting drug trafficking networks and fugitive kingpins, reinforcing the agency’s mandate to curb illicit drug trade and bring past offenders to justice.
