The Ogun State Police Command has recovered the Lexus RX300 belonging to slain retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, as investigations into her murder and that of her security guard gather momentum.

The development came as the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bode Ojajuni, visited the scene of the crime on Monday, reaffirming the command’s determination to track down those responsible for the killings and ensure they face justice.

Oyesiku and her security guard were found dead at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, in the Owode-Egba area of Ogun State, in a case that has generated concern among residents and renewed calls for improved security in rural communities.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command said the commissioner’s visit formed part of ongoing efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Further to the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of retired broadcaster, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, the Commissioner of Police visited the scene of the incident as part of ongoing investigative efforts,” the statement partly read.

During the visit, Ojajuni conducted an assessment of the residence and received briefings from detectives leading the investigation.

According to the police spokesman, the commissioner used the opportunity to reassure residents and the bereaved family of the command’s commitment to securing justice.

“CP Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s resolve to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensuring that those responsible are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice,” Babaseyi stated.

In what investigators described as a major breakthrough, the command confirmed the recovery of the broadcaster’s vehicle, which had earlier been reported missing following the attack.

“It is worthy of note that the vehicle earlier reported missing from the residence, a Lexus RX300, has been recovered by police operatives during the night hours,” the PPRO confirmed.

Police said the vehicle has since been secured and will serve as a critical exhibit in the ongoing investigation.

The statement added that the commissioner expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and assured residents that every available resource was being deployed to apprehend those behind the killings.

“The Commissioner of Police commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured residents of Ogun State that intensive investigation is ongoing, with all available resources being deployed to track down the perpetrators.”

Preliminary investigations had revealed signs of forced entry into the property. According to police findings, the security guard was discovered dead at his duty post, while Oyesiku’s body was later found inside the residence.

Although authorities have yet to establish a motive for the attack, detectives are pursuing multiple leads, with the recovery of the missing vehicle expected to provide valuable clues in the effort to identify and arrest the suspects.

The Ogun State Police Command has urged members of the public with useful information to come forward, assuring that all credible leads will be treated with utmost confidentiality as the investigation continues.
