The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, is set to host a special prayer session dedicated to unmarried youths, mature singles, and expectant mothers across Nigeria and the world.
The programme will hold during the November Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the RCCG National Headquarters, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, beginning at 8 a.m.
In a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, Pastor Oladele Balogun, the initiative is aimed at addressing the increasing number of unmarried adults in the country as well as the spiritual and emotional burdens faced by those waiting for the fruit of the womb.
According to Balogun, recent estimates suggest that more than 40 per cent of Nigeria’s adult population falls into the “single or matured single” category, a figure high enough to raise social concerns.
The discussion around delayed marriage has grown louder in recent months. Just last week, award-winning singer who goes by the stage name Tiwa Savage, publicly expressed her willingness to become a second wife, drawing a wave of reactions across social media.
A few days later, a popular Yoruba actress opened up about her struggles to find a husband and have children at age 52, admitting that the issue weighs heavily on her. There are many silent burdens carriers.
“These concerns are real,” analysts say, noting the mounting societal pressures faced by many Nigerians, particularly women, who remain unmarried later in life.
They add that while economic strains and cultural dynamics play significant roles, many still turn to faith for answers.
Observers believe the prayer session, themed around divine guidance for marital settlement, will draw massive turnout, especially among youths.
It follows the viral social-media trend earlier this year where young women, captured in a prayer session chorusing , “Carry me dey go, Jesus carry me dey go my husband’s house,” underscoring the deep emotional longing connected to marriage in the country.
With RCCG’s presence in over 190 nations, the programme will be streamed live for global participation.
Balogun encouraged worshippers to come with expectations, saying, “As they trust God for marital direction and fruitfulness, we believe heaven will intervene.”
However, social commentators maintain a cautious tone, insisting that it remains to be seen whether prayer alone can serve as the “silver bullet” for a challenge tied to far-reaching social and economic realities.
Worshippers across Lagos and neighbouring states are advised to arrive early due to anticipated large attendance.
