The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on the security agencies to interrogate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader for making a ‘reckless’ statement.
The party said that on 23 April at his investiture as the Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho, he said that anyone who attempted to rig the upcoming elections in Ekiti and Osun states would be roasted.
Tinubu had said ““We are prepared not to go to court but to drive you out. We will not take it anymore. If you mess up in Ekiti and Osun states, you will see our reactions. For every action, there must be a reaction…No government that wants people’s votes will be doing what they are doing. They are planning to rig the elections but be ready to protect your votes. It is going to be rig and roast.”
A statement signed by Taofik Gani the state PDP publicity secretary, said the statement was capable of worsening the security challenges facing the country.
He said the statement was criminal and there was need to get the APC leader to explain details of his utterances.
“We are indeed worried that such inflammatory, inciting and criminal pronouncement can be made in our country at this period that we are confronted with serious security problems.
“The statement must not be treated with kid gloves as it may ignite conflagration in the South-West region” he said.
Gani urged politicians to have trust in the law courts to punish election offenders.
He said that the peace and tranquility of the country must supersede all personal interests.
