President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to foster unity across religious lines, stressing that faith should bind rather than divide the people.
He stated this on Saturday at the funeral service of Mama Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, mother of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu reminded the gathering that Nigeria’s diversity is a strength and called on citizens to live with mutual respect regardless of religious background.
“I inherited Islam from my family; I did not change, but my wife is a pastor. She prays for me, and there’s no conflict. I have never tried to convert her. We must live together as one people,” he said.
The funeral, held in Jos, was attended by political leaders, religious figures, and other dignitaries who joined in prayers for the departed and offered support to the bereaved family.
