… Bello confides in close aides.
Even as supporters of ,Governor Yahaya Bello are still grandstanding the certainty of his becoming the APC candidate come November 2, the governor may have already confessed to his close aides that the game is up.
At a meeting held on Tuesday with very close aides at the Lugard House, Bello told his shocked aides that Buhari could no longer be relied upon to secure the APC ticket for him.
The Governor briefed his kitchen cabinet that all his findings so far indicated that the President will not intervene and override the resolve of the party’s leadership to stop him from accessing the ticket.
A source at the meeting confided that Bello is convinced if he relies on Buhari he could end up getting the Ambode treatment.
Ambode was edged out shortly before the general election in a controversial primaries believed to have been compromised by the APC hierarchy.
This was despite assurances from Buhari that Ambode will get the ticket at the end of the day.
Bello at the meeting lamented that in his own case he was not even able to get Mr President’s commitment to Wade in on his behalf .
He said the opposition against his candidature was been spearheaded by the APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomole.  He said Hajia Salamatu Baiwa was also using his connection within the party hierarchy and the villa to undermine his candidature.
The source said Governor Bello was particularly pained by the involvement of Baiwa and Oshiomole because as he told the meeting he spent heavily to help their election into the National Executive.
” Allah will surely pay them for this betrayal” the governor was reported to have cursed.
Before the meeting it was learnt that Bello in his desperation to get Oshiomole’s support had despatched Secretary to the State Government,  Mrs…….as an emissary to the Oba of Benin to prevail on the National Chairman of the party to no avail.
His thoroughly demoralized aides were said to have encouraged him to use all options possible to defeat the conspiracy to deny him the ticket.
The Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja who responded on behalf of others according to the sources pledge that they were ready to follow their principal blindfolded to battle.
He said with the structure and arrangements already on ground by the New Direction structure could deliver Bello in any party he chose to decamp to.
He was quoted as saying the resounding success of the party in the last poll was not because of the party’s popularity but because of the winning strategy designed by the New Direction team.
He said the same feat will be repeated on November 2 no matter the counter plan of their detractors and under any platform.
In a statement he later issued titled ‘Public Notice” where his picture was paired with the Governor as if he’s the running mate, Onoja attempted to deny that the Governor is embattled in his quest for the ticket.
But he could not categorically deny the speculations that the Governor may be romancing the Accord Party.
Even when he gave “categorically”assurance that the Governor will be  running in number, he could not categorically add that he will running on the platform of the APC.
Analysts believe that the statement was a crafty fire brigade measure to calm their apprehensive supporters.
“what is so difficult in denying that the Governor has no liaison whatsoever with ACCORD PARTY.
” Or to start clearly that he will be the APC candidate, ” as Suleiman Omeiza an Okene based APC chieftain.
I think our governor has lost all hope of getting our party ticket and he brought this on himself.”. He said
