PDP BoT chairman, Walid Jibrin, said Monday that the NWC, BoT, Atiku Abubakar, every aspirant at the convention, and every party member will jointly work to produce a running mate for the presidential candidate of the party.
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, have started to feature on the list of who will eventually be picked as the running mate of Atiku.
Atiku won the PDP presidential ticket for the 2023 general election during the party’s special convention held at the weekend.
Jibrin revealed this via a statement, on Monday, saying Atiku’s victory as the flag bearer in the 2023 presidential contest is a victory for the party as it portends success for the nation.
The statement read in part: “The BoT also congratulates Sen. David Mark and the whole of his committee for organising one of the best elective National conventions after the Port-Harcourt convention chaired by Governor (Ifeanyi) Okowa of Delta State in 2018.”
He further stated, “Finally, the BoT will assist the party and surely Waziri Adamawa himself to come out with a very acceptable Vice President from southern Nigeria.”
