The All Progressives Congress, (APC), says the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in the state, has made its task of campaigning and winning the 2023 general election easier due to alleged non performance in the governance of the state.
Governorship candidate of the APC, Chief Ikechi Emenike, who made the claim at his country home, Umukabia Ohuhu, Umuahia, at the weekend, during a meeting with the 24 State Assembly candidates and 184 ward chairmen in readiness for grassroots campaigns, accused the PDP of under-developing Abia.
He stated that APC, as the main opposition party in the state, has taken her message of rescue and development to the 184 wards of the state and is already getting the support of the people who have rejected the PDP.
Emenike urged leaders and candidates of the party to work harder for the remaining task of winning the people’s votes with a better alternative which Abia APC represents.
He said; “This meeting is to finetune strategy preparatory to the commencement of governorship and state assembly campaigns. The ruling PDP has made easier our task of campaigning and winning the 2023 general election easier due to its non performance in the governance of the state. PDP has underdeveloped Abia state. Even before the flag off of the campaigns, the grassroots have accepted our message of rescue and develop Abia. We have taken steps to strengthen our structures in all the 184 wards for Abia. We are determined to win this election. Our objective is to win this state, change doesn’t come easy; it comes with hard work, but we are equal to the task.”
Also speaking at the occasion, the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Rev. Gloria Akara, also encouraged party members to work hard to actualize APC’s goal of taking control of the state.
The chairman of Abia APC, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu , earlier in his address, assured members that the party was ready for the forthcoming electioneering.
In their remarks, APC senatorial candidates for Abia Central and Abia South, Hon. Emeka Atuma and Hon. Blessing Nwagba, respectively, enjoined party faithful to engage in robust campaigns to all parts of the state.
Atuma boasted that the APC would boldly challenge and dethrone the ruling PDP and confine them to opposition in 2023.
“Nobody should be afraid. Emenike will be governor and we will recover the government house and relocate it from the rented location where it has remained since the creation of Abia 31 years ago. Abia APC is already submerged in grace. The APC Is poised to record a resounding victory come 2023.”
